From Northern Virginia (approx.
2 ½ to 3 hr. drive) From Richmond & Charlottesville via
I64 From Rt. 250/151 Intersection 1. After getting on Rt. 151 South, follow Rt. 151 South for 22 miles. Beginning at about the 10th mile and for the next few miles, you will pass:
2. Continue on Rt. 151, going over a mountain with several steep, sharp curves. On the other side of the mountain, you will pass on the right a light brown barn with the word "Bryant" in large letters on its sides and, finally, on the right, a VA Department of Highways (VDOT) station (blue and white sign) on the right. You are nearing your next turn. 3. Start looking for Jonesboro Road at the crest of a hill and marked by an interesting, shingle-sided church at the corner of Rt. 151 and Jonesboro Rd.. The church is the Jonesboro Baptist Church, however, the sign is placed on an angle at the corner, preventing you from reading it until you make the turn onto Jonesboro Rd. 4. Turn right onto Jonesboro Rd. Follow it for 1.4 miles. 4. Jonesboro Rd. ends in a "T" at Rt. 56 (Crabtree Falls Hwy.). Turn right (West) onto Rt. 56. 5. Follow Rt. 56 for 7.1 miles. You will pass the following landmarks:
6. Continuing on Rt. 56 West and after some curves in the road, begin looking for a "Watch for Turning Vehicles" sign on the right. Prepare to slow down. 7. At Rt. 687 marker, continue on Rt. 56, but slow down to turn left as soon as you cross the bridge. Immediately at the end of the Rt. 56 bridge, on the right is a black mailbox bearing the number 9621 on top of the box. Opposite the mailbox on the left side of the road is a path/drive with a large black gate (which will be standing open). Turn onto this path/drive. The drive runs between an old, abandoned one-and-a-half story, white house on the left and GTE metal, switching boxes on right . Cross the private bridge and follow gravel lane to right and up hill. |
