From North I81:
1. Follow I81 south to
Exit 205
2. Take Exit 205 (Raphine/Steeles
Tavern)
3. At end of exit ramp, turn
left onto Rt. 606
4. Continue with directions

3. At end of exit ramp,
turn right onto Rt. 606 " Continue with directions "From Rt. 606"

1. Follow Rt.
606 to Rt. 11.
2. At Rt. 11 intersection, turn left onto
Rt. 11 then right on Rt. 56 (east).
3. Follow Rt. 56 for 13 miles. Below are
landmarks.
The road will become very winding and will have steep
drop-offs on the right.

Railroad tracks that you will cross
Sign on left for George Washington National Forest
Turkey Hollow Farm on right " River Gap Recreation Area on
right
Sugar Tree Inn on right " Blue Ridge Parkway overpass
Montebello Country Store on left (at about 7.9 miles after getting
onto Rt. 56)
State Fish Hatchery on right
Entrance to National Forest Crabtree Falls Observation Trail on right
Crabtree Falls Campground on right
4. As you near the end of the 13 miles, slow down and
start looking on the right for:
Telephone switching boxes covered by a pavilion roof
and with a homemade American flag hanging from the roof eave
A private lane that runs by the left side of the switching station
Abandoned white house on the other (right) side of the lane
On the left side of Rt. 56, opposite the lane will be a mailbox with
the numbers 9621 on the side. On top of the mailbox will be a small sign
that reads "Raid The Wind"
5. Turn right onto the lane between the switching station
and abandoned house. Follow the lane across the private bridge and up the
hill to the right.
6. You have gone too far, iyou to get to the Flippin-Seaman
Appleshed (on right).
